a lola summer
as noted, my birthday was may 6th, last friday. i came home this past friday to a drawer-full of presents from my mother, and she gifted me the most extraordinary fragrance/decoration/beauty icon in the whole world.
she gave me…
lola! no way! fantastique!
also, here are a few swatches of Jade is the New Black by OPI (which i highly recommend)
also i must share the birthday card my mother gave me. i personally found it hysterical.

liberty spike headband
ever since i saw it featured on luxirare’s blog and on a certain photo i found on tumblr that i featured for a personal poem, i have been absolutely fascinated by the liberty spike headband and crave one for myself. after seeing the price tag on the one luxirare adorned atop her head, i have made it a personal DIY quest: i will make myself a liberty spike headband.
how i will do it? fuck if i know. but i will.
as featured on the rackk and ruin etsy website.
the dress that is waiting to be worn
i bought a dress for my one year anniversary, but due to some unforeseen consequences i could not wear it.
by unforeseen consequences, i mean my car got a flat tire on friday and the auto shop closed at noon on saturday so it wasn’t going to be ready until the following monday.

(sorry my hand is kind of awkward!)
i got it at urban outfitters for ten dollars, too! it was a pale-pink slip underneath black lace and a ruffled detailing. maybe one day…
on alexander mcqueen
it makes me wonder how a man that has had so much success in his life could commit suicide.
he is one of the greatest avant-garde designers to have ever lived, and yet this wasn’t enough for him.
just makes me wonder.
a fine romance
the title applies to three different things:
around this time of year i always have the urge to watch Swingtime, starring Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire.
it’s the perfect movie for this time of year.
my title also applies to the romance i now have with my new Steve Madden boots:
they’re a size 10! i’m only a size 8.5, but they were incredibly small on me (the top flap of these boots also flips up and that also looks fantastic. they’re so amazing).
last, “a fine romance” applies to my new OPI favorite, Black Cherry Chutney from the OPI India Collection.
sorry, this picture does NO justice. i was also a little messy painting my nails last night. this is my new favorite vampie color though hands down. the color is a deep-eggplant with a deep red shimmer… somewhat like Midnight in Moscow mixed with Eiffel For This Color. fantastic.
and i also got my camera to work!
this has been a horribly rough week. nothing has gotten better, but i am still hoping for the best for next week. wait, i lie.. it’s the week before finals. that won’t be a good week either. the roommate is still not gone so i’ve been advised to camp out elsewhere until she’s gone which should be tomorrow.
reader(s), if you are out there, what do you guys/girls usually do to make yourselves feel better? please tell me!
crânes! crânes! crânes!
so this is the final product of my cut-out skull sweater:

here’s the white one that i made. i don’t like it as much but with some editing i’m sure it’ll be just as swell:

and my earrings (that i didn’t make):

i like showing them off :] on my nails i’m wearing OPI’s “Here Today… Aragon Tomorrow”. super dark emerald, very lovely.
cut-out skull sweater
my newest project:
cut-out skull sweater. i am not a huge crafty person but with enough dedication and diligence my sweater(s) are going to look amazing.
these are earrings i just bought. i’ve wanted them for some time now and finally let myself have them. i love (sugar) skulls!
i will conclude this post by posting one of my favorite richard brautigan poems. i was upset to find that my schools’ bookstore does not sell any brautigan. a damn shame!
Boo, Forever
Spinning like a ghost
on the bottom of a
top,
I’m haunted by all
the space that I
will live without
you.

des beaux gants
beautiful green and gold kid-ruffled suede gloves by Schiaparelli circa 1939.
they remind me of something that could have come straight out of La Planète Sauvage.

not really my taste but i love these givenchy heels
i love these chanel booties too!
and these. i love the “bondage couture” feel of these.
and these margielas!
all pictures come from one of my favorite bloggers, sea of shoes
