ingo maurer
i would like to dedicate this post to the fabulous german designer, ingo maurer.
in my mother’s house we have several ingo maurer fixtures, including two “spocks” (ceiling lights), “birdies” (lightbulbs avec wings) and in my room is “zettl’z 5″, a fixture that holds love notes in different languages. here are pictures:
here are our two resident birdies. they are both low-voltage bulbs, and the wings are made of goose feathers. aren’t they sweet?
here is zettl’z 5:
it is japanese paper. 31 of the sheets supplied are already written on and it comes with around 49 blank sheets.
(if anyone can decipher what any of these say, please leave a comment! i’d love to know!)
and there you have it. in a word, his products are magical and deliver as being astonishingly simple yet incredibly thoughtful and imaginative. his work is featured in several museums including the philadelphia museum of art, the museum of modern art in new york, the cooper hewitt museum and the stedelijk museum in amsterdam. here is his website: http://www.ingo-maurer.com/
i highly encourage everyone to take a gander at his work, you will not regret it!
stupid nail polish names… dot com
forget that i have an anthropology test in less than ten hours from now and that i don’t plan on sleeping, but let me introduce to you probably one of the best nail polish blogs i have seen in a long time:
stupidnailpolishnames.blogspot.com
it’s hysterical. the blogger makes fun of some of the best names there are for nail polish (and let me tell you, OPI is full of them!) and so, let me just say, this blog was worth stopping my hardcore studying. take a looksie.
ebay
sooo let’s be honest: i’m a really desperate, money-seeking college kid. and because vagabonding thrift store to thrift store isn’t getting me anywhere, i have decided to sell some items on ebay.
