songs for creative inspiration
everyone has a handful of inspirational songs that, whether it be a melody, lyrics, tone or even the title, one may find this song inspirational to them in their writing. i comprised a playlist on my itunes with such songs and i hope that you (the reader) may follow suit or share your own batch of songs. without further ado, here are fifteen songs in no particular order:
1. sparklehorse- sea of teeth
can you feel the wind of venus on your skin?
2. manchester orchestra- the river
i think i know you best when i sleep, i think i know everything
3. cole porter- in the still of the night
as i gaze out the window at the moon in its flight, my thoughts all stray to you.

9. santo & johnny- sleep walk (covered by betsy brye)
sleep talk because i miss you, i sleep talk while the memory of you lingers like a song
10. tegan & sara- nineteen

11. blind pilot- 3 rounds and a sound

12. kevin devine- ball game
a good man doesn’t drink, but i’ve been drinking alone, so what does that make me?
13. beck- broken drum
your setting sun, your broken drums, your little drugs, i’ll never forget you

it will feel like home no matter how far you’ll be from my lonely arms
15. manchester orchestra- i can feel a hot one
and i realized that then you were perfect, with my teeth ripping out of my head.
la voyage dans la lune
one of my favorite silent films. it’s so surreal and i love that the Smashing Pumpkins allude to the film in their music video for “Tonight, Tonight”:
(PS – i am a Smashing Pumpkins fanatic! just so you know.)
